Minus and plus 4
Archaeological studies are now underway to permit the start of construction of public buildings and green areas in Rome, in the wake of an international urban design competition. The studio Alvisi Kirimoto + Partners was the winner, in 2006, of Meno è più 4, organized by the City of Rome to promote urban quality. The competition called for the design of a civic center, a daycare center for 60 children, a park connected to the archaeological finds in the area, and public parking facilities. The studio Alvisi Kirimoto + Partners, establishing an energy ranking that laid the groundwork for the various solutions proposed, has designed a building that reduces energy consumption and limits CO2 emissions. Meno è più 4 can be considered one of the first passive energy buildings in Italy. www.alvisikirimoto.it.
