Prototypes and Experiments
The Aram Gallery is continuing its series of displays made up of prototypes and experiments sourced from designers’ studios. The prototype, being part of a process, makes more real an idea that will lead to a final piece, and is not made with the intention of being sold or shown outside the designers’ studio. Experiments are also unique artefacts but are even less refined and sometimes constitute a partial sketch on the way to the prototype. The Aram gallery is interested in the way designers think and work. It has chosen to present these unique artefacts as part of Aram Gallery ongoing search for insight into the design process. To accompany the prototypes the exhibition will include selected drawings taken from the designers physical or digital sketchbooks. http://www.thearamgallery.org
Francesca MontÃ
Correspondent in Paris I had never considered moving here, but the French design by 5.5 designers was so intriguing I decided to knock on their door. This instinctive, impulsive decision turned out to be a very good one. Later I realized I was in Paris, and I began to discover, with amazement, the different arrondissements, from the 1st to the 20th, with their great variety, something for everyone; this was real work, it seemed endless, and I continue to do it with passion. Born in Biella, Piedmont (so the road was not so long to come here), I moved to Milan where I took a degree in design at the Milan Polytechnic. During those years of study, partially spent in Spain, as well, I had the chance to gain experience working with Spazio Rossana Orlandi and the Ciboh studio in Milan, Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella, and working on personal projects in the area of food design, which is still one of my main interests, together with art, music, fashion, design and architecture. www.cinqcinqdesigners.com www.hoteldelocen.org francesca_monta@yahoo.it
